When I got the Driftkikker CD in my postbox, I thought in the first place that I had to review a Dutch hardcore punkband. Nothing could have been more further from the truth. "Coming of the light" is very relaxed album with trip-hop, jazz and rock influences. The tracks are composed and produced by audiovisual artist Daddo from Leiden. He sings/raps over a base of swinging beats, creative programming and ambient sounds. Whole has enough sharp edges and original angles to avoid established paths of the "Lounge". The number "What" was already selected for mixtape by Mercedes Benz and I think that more tracks of this alternating album will find their way to compilations...Klik Hier om Nederlaandse versie te lezen !
